It’s just another year…. but it’s 55! It really doesn’t feel like it, not sure what 55 is supposed to feel like though.
It’s been life changing this year as our family deals with cancer. My husband of 35 years was just diagnosed in March of 2013 with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. You can read our story here. I began this year with such high hopes, this was going to be it. Everything was coming together in life and in my business, then whammo, it all came to a crashing halt on March 13, 2013 when Mike had a Grand Mal Seizure. This was our first major warning sign of our new life to come.
~ I would not wish anything like this on my worst enemy.
I’m learning how important the connections we’ve made in life come into play when we need them the most. We have been so blessed with support, through phone, emails, social media and the outpouring of love and healing energies have been felt every single day. We appreciate it so much and would not have been able to get to this point in our journey without it so thank you all so much.
We’ve been overwhelmed with our situation at times but those of you that matter in our lives are always there when needed, my phone rings or my computer pings just at the right moment.
This past month has been especially challenging and I’ve laughed and cried with so many old friends as well as meeting some amazing new friends too. You all have helped me get through this rough patch. Not sure if I’m out of it yet but I have high hopes for my birthday week. It’s always the best week of the year.
My closest friends from high school, another one of my oldest long time friends, we’ve known each other since we were 5 and a high school friend that I’ve developed a wonderful relationship with over the last several years through Social Media and Iowa visits (usually involving many glasses of wine).
These amazing women are putting together a Bad Ass party for us to celebrate the years that we’ve all known each other and to celebrate in style. If you’ll be in the Des Moines area on October 12th, I invite you to join us to celebrate with us that night. We have an awesome musical act at one of the best local Eastside Des Moines restaurants, Bianchi’s Hilltop Restaurant and Lounge, E 29th and Hubbell Ave in Des Moines. We hope you can join us.
I do believe that things happen for a reason, I haven’t quite figured out what mine is yet, but now at 55, I feel confident that I have a lot of years ahead of me and I a little bit of time to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I do feel I’m getting close!
Every Birthday year gets better and better with Social Media, the energy really gets flowing with so many well wishes! I’m thanking you all in advance for those you are sending my way nd I am not going to think about being 55. We’re as young as we feel.
